Hi!
I’ve got a thing that’s been bugging me. I’m trying to block users (all/or a group) to use "shutdown". I found a page that had exactly the thing I wanted, but this was only for NT/2000! the link: http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/1170/ I want do to exactly what it states in that article, but, since the reg-values are for nt/2000, and I cannot find any info regarding how to do this in xp, Im in dire need for help. /sincere Bjorn -- Posted using the http://www.windowsforumz.com interface, at author's request Articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards Topic URL: http://www.windowsforumz.com/Disabli...ict433994.html Visit Topic URL to contact author (reg. req'd). That article doesn't give any help how to disable shutdown. Or prerhaps you
want to convert shutdown to loggoff? These registry settings most likely works also on windows xp. Have you tried them? Proper way to prevent some user to shutdown the system is to use group policy. Start group policy editor (gpedit.msc) and navigate to security settings -> local policies -> user rights assignment. There is setting "shut down the system". You can set which users or groups can do it. By default all users can do it. I'm not sure if gpedit is available on windows xp home, but pro version has it and also windows 2003 server.
