Hi in Outlook Express in the left hand pane where the newsgroup titles are
when it is first highlighted the highlight is blue but when I then highlight a message subject the highlight then becomes a very light grey. Also when composing a message such as this one any highlighted message subject also becomes a very light grey. How can I change this colour to a darker grey or to another colour? Windows XP Pro with SP2 and a slightly modified windows scheme but I still cannot change the colour. Thanks Ron |

You can customize the color of your watched messages to make them stand out.
On the Tools menu, click Options. On the Read tab, at the end of the Highlight watched messages with the color line, select the color you want, and then click OK. -- Hope this helps. Let us know. Ron,
In your picture, the left hand pane is called the Folders Pane or Folders List, the right hand pane is called the Message Pane or Message List. You can change the Selected Items color in Display Properties, but this will affect the Selected Items color everywhere in Windows, not just in Outlook Express. I have not tried this myself. Right click Desktop | Properties | Appearance tab | Advanced button | Click the V Under Item: to expand the menu | Scroll down the Window elements menu to Selected Items | Click the V on Color 1 to expand the menu | Select a color or click on Other and either select a color or customize a new color How to Change the Font, Size, and Colors of Desktop Items http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310543 In both e-mail and newsgroups, when a conversation in the Message List is marked as Watched, the messages in that thread are marked with the glasses and highlighted whatever color is set in Highlight watched messages. The Folder that the thread is in, in the Folders Pane, is also highlighted the same color as the watched conversation. From OE HELP... [[You can customize the color of your watched messages to make them stand out. On the Tools menu, click Options. On the Read tab, at the end of the Highlight watched messages with the color line, select the color you want, and then click OK.]] You might try posting at... microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlooke xpress to see what the OE experts have to say about it. -- Hope this helps. You need to go to the display properties, the appearance tab, and fiddle around in there. Seems to me the highlighting is tied to some other object, so it wasn't obvious what to change. Sorry I can't be more specific, it's been some time since I made the changes. And it might be that you can only make the changes if you're using the Windows classic style, but I'm not sure on that. Good luck. |

The selected items only refers to active items that you are presently
clicking on. Previously selected items are usually a lighter color. To change the inactive selected items, you'd need to change the "3D Objects" setting. Doing so also changes backgrounds for toolbars, taskbar, menus (unless you have a custom color for "Menu"), dialog boxes, and application backgrounds. In the Windows Standard color scheme, the default color for 3d objects is light gray. For a safe experiment, select Windows Classic Style and Rainy Day colors
scheme on the Display Properties - Appearance tab. It's a nice blue theme. You can customize individual elements from there.
