Hi
my screensaver does not activate automatically although it worked fine at some point. I can see it working just fine in the preview under "control panel", and the time is properly set up. I tried some patches from the "Kelly's corner" website, but it didn't work. I also tried to set up time to one minute, with windows "flying objects" screen saver (a basic one), nothing happened. Could it be a program running on the back that I don't see? I have windows XP, with Norton internet security, and I use a notebook. Thanks for your help! Carole |

Screen Saver May Not Start in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;326719 Posting from another user by the name of David: ”I figured out what the problem is. It's the Microsoft Wireless Mouse. If I switch the mouse to one with a tail the screensaver works.” then David posted again ”I got a fix. I changed to connection to the computer using the USB to PS2 adapter that came with the mouse. Now I get the screensaver. I would be interested to find out why this works.” "carole" <carole@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:794F84FF-633A-44FC-96A7-38B8F9E54038@microsoft.com... > Hi > my screensaver does not activate automatically although it worked fine at > some point. Hi Carole
Check to see if you have a program called Power DVD. If you have it uninstall the program and your power settings and screensavers will work -- Have A Great Day Bill Meyer |

Eliminating the space character from the screen saver filenames fixed the
screensaver startup problem on my XP Home installation. (Per other posts, Power DVD and/or wireless mouse was not my problem.) If your screen saver filename(s) contain space character(s), make copies of all associated files in their same folder(s). Files generally reside in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder. Edit each copy’s filename to eliminate space characters. Do not alter or delete the original files. If there is a .log or other text file that contains associated paths and/or filenames, edit this file also. Select the new filename in the Display Properties Screen Saver drop down list. Perhaps it will work properly this time. |
