Setting multiple olders to the same set of Column Details

I have a folder called Music, under this are several levels of categorisation
of my music files. When I display any of these sub folders in explorer I want
the same set of columns, showing Bit Rate, Filename, Duration, Artist, Album,
Date, and whatever as per my own choice. I can laboriously go through the
hundreds of folders and set these columns, but how can I do this
automatically? I cannot use the option to set all folders to be like the one
I have customised for music as I do not want all of my computer's files
displayed like this, only the ones under the folder called Music. I could do
with a function "Apply this folder's settings to all subfolders" but that is
not there. I could imagine making a custom template which contains the
settings, but that function does not appear to exist. Is there a way of doing
this, what would appear to me to be common and normal, task?

I've written a couple of scripts for this.

The first will wipe out all saved views, up the limit for saved views, then allow you to define a view for a folder an apply it to all its subfolders. The link is:

The second script preserves existing saved views and only modifies the folder(s) and subfolders you select. That link is:

I tried FVMII and it works great.

I just hope that the views are retained next time I open these folders as
this has been a continual problem for me and my wife using two different -
but networked - computers.

I note that I ned to always open the folder (My Pictures in my case) the
same way, i.e. as Desktop/My Documents/My Pictures. Does it matter how I get
to this point, i.e. via a shortcut or by opening My Computer and navigating
down to that folder?

A PS.

When my wife accesses exactly the same folders (which are stored on the
desktop) on her networked laptop, the settings change *every* time a folder
is opened. Can anything be done about this ?

It shouldn't matter. As long as the folder tree shows the same path, you will be accessing the same saved view.

I'm not sure how or if views of folders on a network are saved.

I'm also not sure of your question...

She is viewing files stored on your computer, correct? Are you saying that changes the view on your computer the next time you open the folder? Or that her view of the folder is not saved?

Yes, the files are stored on my PC. She accesses them via the network, where
sharing is set (and permision to alter).

I think I am saying the latter.

The views I set are not seen by her.
The views that she sets are not retained the next time she views the folder,
nor do they alter the views that I have set on my PC - these remain the
same.

If views of folders on a network are not saved, then we will be stuck with
the status quo, although it annoys her intensely.

I guess a way around it may be to write a script which picks up all the
shared files and writes them to a destination on her PC which is *not*
Offline Folders. The problems are:
1. Writing the script
2. Remembering to run it (the XP offline facility is intended to do al this
for you)
