Default Start Menu - Most Frequently Used algorithm - biased against Firefox?

Hi,

I used "setup program accessories and defaults" to switch my default
browser between Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Whenever I
remove Internet Explorer from the default browser, it gets into most
frequenly used programs list under the start menu. But when I remove
Firefox, it does not. Just to check it out, I kept using Firefox a lot,
while keeping IE as the default browser. I kept starting Firefox, and
closing it. I logged off, logged on, restarted my comp - tried
everything, to get it into MFU list. But, I was not successful. Only
when I increased the number of programs to be displayed in MFU did
Firefox get in the MFU list. But when I switched the default browser to
Firefox (from IE), IE immediately got into the MFU list. This all makes
me suspicious - I'm not a windows expert (I have rarely run regedit).
So if anyone can enlighten me on why this could have happened, I would
appreciate.

Thanks,
Lakshman.

Why don't you clear the MFU list before running experiments.
