Did you run some sort of "cleaning" program that may have removed some
registry streams?? Heirloom, old and almost time for chili "Jarmils" <Jarmils@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F23FD449-F48B-4F4A-A88E-EFCBCA9C3DF5@microsoft.com... > Suddenly all windows that I open from IE are minimized. How come? |

IE remembers the last window that was opened.
This will have to be redone occasionally. Open *one* instance of IE | Use the cursor (not the maximize button) to drag the window to the desired size | Click the Close [X] while holding down the Ctrl key. ----- When all else fails, paste the line below into Start | Run javascript:window.open(screen.availWidth,screen.av ailHeight) Note: then make sure the above window is the last one closed. From... Internet Explorer Tips and Tricks http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/ietips.htm ---- Or maybe you're using a shortcut to open IE and Minimized is selected under Run. Right click the shortcut | Properties | Shortcut tab | Under Run, change to Normal Window or Maximized | Apply | OK -- Hope this helps. Let us know. In the rare instance that I had to "redo" mine, it was always a result of having 'cleaned' a particular registry stream and wiping those settings. IIRC, I have never had to hold the Ctrl key while closing the resized window for the setting to 'stick'.....is this supposed to be a requirement, Wes?? I don't now why this problem occurs but when it does I now know how to solve
it. Thanks very much. Ctrl + Close handlers have nothing to do with it and have nothing to do with the control key either. It is a similar function to Ctrl + C and Ctrl + Break but Ctrl + Close is just a system is about to shutdown message and is from Windows rather than from the user.
It makes no difference if control is held or not. It writes the value once or twice on Windows opening and once on closing. If a window comes from another window it is written twice (presumbably once from the original window and once for the new). -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Read David defending the concept of violence. http://margokingston.typepad.com/har...e_ga.html#more ================================================= "Wesley Vogel" <123WVogel955@comcast.net> wrote in message news:uMCgPtk2FHA.3912@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > Ctrl + Close [X] saves folder settings.
