How can I do this? Have searched dozens of help articles, that suggested
modifying entries in "HKEY_Classes_Root\Directory\..." Some articles show how to run applications with a reg entry with a value set to the UNC for the app. Can't make it work for the "Show Desktop.scf". <NB: This might seem like a stupid question, but I have 2 monitors and sometimes need to run the command from the second display while a fullscreen video runs on the primary display> Ado ![]() |

Create a plain text file with this content:- [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop Save it with the name:- Show Desktop.scf to this folder:- C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch and the icon should show up in your quick launch bar. -- Stubbo of Oz |

Meaning no disrespect, the first question is not "how" but "why". Why create a context command when you can always hit Windows+D and get the desktop? -- Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, Tompkins County, New York, USA http://OakRoadSystems.com/ "If there's one thing I know, it's men. i've got a bizarre set up - a graph tablet on USB and mouse/KB on a KVM
switch with dual monitors. It suits my work! I prefer to keep the system tray and task bar on the primary display only instead of stretching it across 2 displays - because I only use the 2 about half the time. Using the tablet I can context click, but can't use KB shortcuts. I could use the desktop shortcut, but would prefer it on the context menu. I've tried creating a new key for it but it didn't work - I wonder if it is because of the file type? Only context menu extensions can appear on the background menu. No command line support at all.

Thanks for posting, but I'm sorry to say I don't have an answer how to do what you're trying to do. -- Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, Tompkins County, New York, USA http://OakRoadSystems.com A: Maybe because some people are too annoyed by top-posting. Q: Why do I not get an answer to my question(s)? A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? |

Just a thought......(my two are both desktop)...why can't you just switch the
"primary" desktop to the display you're not prefering? "Adomonster" wrote: > Thanks for your helpful comments - I will make do as I am ![]() > > "Adomonster" wrote: > > > How can I do this? Oh! I right-clicked on my "Show Desktop" icon. Then "copy", and "paste" it
to the other screen's background. Works. I just have to drag the window on that screen down or over enough to show the icon. Still, with "Extended " screen, shows both screens' Desktops (of course).
