Default XP desktop and buttons

Hi,
I recently had a vundo trojan virus. In the process of cleaning I lost
the"look" of Windows XP. I am running XP pro sp2. When I go to the desktop
and right click to open properties. under themes I have selected XP. However
under the appearance tab I only have "classic windows" with no other
selections.
Is there a way to return to the XP apearance other than a repair
install of XP?

Make sure that the Themes service is set to Automatic and started.

If the Windows XP Style choice isn't available...
Visual styles are implemented by the Themes service. If the service isn't
running, Windows reverts to the classic Windows styles, which doesn't rely
on the Themes service.

To restore the Windows XP styles.
Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Themes | Set to Automatic under Startup
type | Click the Start button | When Themes starts, close Services

If that doesn't fix the problem, open System Properties.
Right click My Computer |Properties | Advanced tab |
Under Performance, Settings button | Visual Effects tab
Select Use Visual Styles On Windows And Buttons | Apply | OK

Thanks guy's,

I have tried both suggestions. I now have the option in properties to
change the theme to windows XP. If I do this everything looks okay. When I
reboot however it goes back to Classic. Even thiough when I check themes it
says windowsXP. I have to change it to something else and then back again to
get the "luna"look. Any suggestions?

Make sure that the Themes service is set to Automatic and running.

Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Themes | Click the V next to Startup type |
Select Automatic | Click the Apply button | Click the Start button |
When the Themes service has started, click OK | Close Services

If that doesn't do it, visit here...
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Read the instructions at the top.

One of these ought to help.

187. Restore Themes Functionality

187. Right hand side
Restore Luna Theme

214. Right hand side
Windows XP Style Changes to Windows Classic

271. Stuck in Classic View? Undo Now
-----

Since you have XP Pro you can use Group Policy, check these settings...
Start | Run | Type: gpedit.msc | Click OK |

Navigate to >>>

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\
Force Classic Start Menu
Set to: Not Configured

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Desktop Themes\
Load a specific visual style file or force Windows Classic
Set to: Not Configured

Wesley,
I went through the services, all was set properly. I also went into
gpedit, and all was set correctly there. i downloaded #214 and #271 from
Kellys. After running the #214 I had the same problem. I ran #271 and that
seemed to do the trick. thank you so much for the help.
I misstyped Kellys-Korner the first time and ended up at kellys-corner.
This was not a good thing as pop ups and adware was all over. After having
the vundo virus I am very aware. There were 2 programs that tried to install
on my system. I would caution everyone to stay away from kellys-corner
