A tool that use the service of Windows.
I already have a desktop search engine in yahoo desktop search. Microsoft provide a indexing service but we do not have any interface to use it. I know that Vista will have something similar but for now i would love to use the indexing service of windows. Personally, I have been using FileLocator Pro from www.mythicsoftware.com. They also have a free program called "Agent Ransack." Neither of these work against the indexing service but are very useful find tools especially when searching for text strings. -- Sharon F MS-MVP ~ Windows Shell/User |

Hi Thank for the information
One question that come to my mind after trying. It seem to me that the result are slower than if i made a request directly into the the indexing. If RMB on my computer, choose manage go to indexing tool. i have a place where i could do request to find document. also do you hav any idea how i can customize the search? I whan to look for a specific property inside a type of file? Is their and API for the indexing tool? A search for indexing service API might turn something up in the MSDN section or TechNet. Alternatively the programming groups (here on the public newsgroups) might get you to that level. Honestly? You're digging deeper than I've been with the service and I have NO idea about the whole API or SDK for MSN DTS for instance. I've been interested in it but I've not yet made time to learn about the DTS specifically. -- Galen - MS MVP - Windows (Shell/User & IE) http://dts-l.org/ "My life is spent in one long effort to escape from the commonplaces of existence." - Sherlock Holmes |
