Default Something is wrong with my grid alignment, please help!

My nephew was messing around my computer yesterday and when I got it
back, the grid alignment had gone completely insane. The grid seems to
be extra large, causing them to spread apart. This only happens when I
choose view as icon and thumbnails, all the others are fine. Here's a
screenshot of it:

I have tried everything, I turned the grid lock on and off, auto
arranged it, refreshed it, messed around with the folder options and
nothing seems to fix it. I am convinced the property of the grid
alignment was changed somewhere and I can't seem to figure out how to
get to it. Can anyone help before I re-install windows?

Sounds like the icon spacing has been set way high.

Try this:

1. Right Click Desktop + Choose “Properties”
2. In the Properties Window click on the “Appearance Tab” at the top.
3. In the Appearance Window click on the button called “Advanced”.
4. In the Advanced Appearance Window choose “Item:” from the drop down list
and choose “Icon Spacing (Horizontal)” and you can choose desired Icon
spacing. Likewise the same steps can be used to change Vertical spacing.

Mine is set to 43 pixels.
