Default Customising the My Documents folder

Hi,

Not sure if you can help but I'll give it a go.

We have renamed the My Documents folder on our users PCs to Private
Documents. This folder is also redirected to a network folder by Group
Policy. This has worked very well.

The problem we have is this:

When a user opens, say, an Offcie application like Word and they click the
Open button, the icon for the My Documents folder is still called My
Documents. This will throw up confusion for our users when we roll out this
change as we want to be able to tell them My Documents is now Private
Documents.

Anyway, my question is this, how are we able to change the name of the My
Documents folder in the Open box within Word (any any other application for
that matter)?

Thansk for your help in advance,

Jamie

Thanks for the help. It has opened my eyes to a few things but doesn't help
me out.

The document you showed me says that teh MY Documents folder can't be
renamed on the My Places bar. I'm hoping there is a way to change it by
editing the registry or something similar as we need to script this change so
it runs in a Group Policy.

Thanks again for your help. Any more help would be appreciated!

You can hide the built-in My Documents as described in the article and then add a link to Private Documents.
