Hello,
I want to make a Gaming Account on Xp which has nothing or limited apps
loading on startup. My main Administrator account has quite a few apps
that load and really slow the computer down when playing a game. Is
there anyway to pick what apps I want loaded on the gaming account I
created with out disabling the applications on both accounts through
Msconfig?

msconfig utility affects both user staruups. Any way around this?

Why not create a new user?
Once the new user is created, you can modify that all you want.

Already created the new user, however, any modifications made in msconfig get
used during boot regardless of what user signs in. I was hoping to set
startup options to minimal when using the "gaming" user and to have all
normal services and startup programs load when logging in as a "normal" user.

Using Win98, I used to boot from a cd to do a special streamlined
startup for games. I am not sure if XP can do that. You can always (or
usualy) add more ram to speed up opperations.

Windows XP should keep users separate by having the startup items in the
Registry under HKLM-Run. This Run section is specific only to the user.
When certain software is installed, you sometimes get a message asking if it
should be installed for current user only or all users. Applications
installed for all users are in the Registry in the HKCU-Run section.

It depends on what is running. Simple things that are stupid to have
running like the Adobe Download Manager can simply be removed. Anytime you
install Adobe products or just a pdf reader, they seem to add that to you
startup. Many applications do this so that their software looks for
updates.

It really depends on what you think is running... and can you move it from
the All User Category to a Single User Category.
