Default Remove ATI Catalyst item from Desktop context menu?

I'm using a ATI Radeon 9550 video card in my MCE computer... For some stupid
reason, ATI has decided to put a shortcut on the Desktop/Explorer context
menu. I never use this and want it gone, but there is no option to remove
it.

Does anyone know how I can remove this from the context menu? Google didn't
provide anything that applies.

Thanks!

Open your Catalyst Control Center.. click on the button marked PREFERENCES..
now uncheck ENABLE SYSTEM TRAY MENU..

Did that work?..

go to here:

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html download and install it.

The dowload link is towards the bottom of the page

Run it.

Then disable anything you see with ATI (in pink)

everything is reversable so dont worry

Noozer,

Open Regedit.exe and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\Con textMenuHandlers

Backup the key to a .REG file.

Select the ATI context-menu item and delete it.

Note that the only default item is "New". If you see any other sub-key in
the location above, they may have been added by a third-party software.

Close Regedit.exe

Context Menu Handlers - More information:

Manage the context-menu entries for files, folders, drives and Namespace
objects:
