Default unexpected quotes behaviour

I am using remote desktop from Windows2000 and also Windows XP towards
another PC which is running Windows XP. I get the unwanted behaviour:
- When typing a quote it appears only after typing the same quote a second
time
(same behaviour with single or double quotes)
- When positioning the cursor somewhere and then scrolling by up- or
down-keys I am selecting text while this should not be the case as I don't
keep shift-key pressed

Both effects happen in any application I run on the target PC... for this
reason I believe it is terminal services related.

I have looked on the support site but cannot find any described case like this

Any one ever experienced this too? I am using a NorthAmerican keyboard and
the target computer has a UK keyboard.

1 is caused by using the US International keyboard.

2 may be caused by using Sticky keys from accessability or just a stuck key. Power saving features have rarly been known for doing this. Just press Shift again if it's a power saving thing.

You're using the US-International keyboard layout, which is provided to
facilitate typing special characters like ä. This can be turned off in
Control Panel | Regional and Language Options | Languages | Details |
Settings.
