Default Startup sound cuts off

XP pro ( SP2 )
I wanted to customize my sounds and found two things:
1) Sounds in control panel will only list Wave files ( .wav )
not mp3 or midi.
I got around this by using Audacity sound editor to convert mp3 to .wav.

2) The 3.5 minute tune I want to play at startup only plays for about half
the length and cuts...as if another background program is somehow cutting
off the audio. This happens with several different wave files I have tried,
but not with the standard ones.( Those are all very short anyway )
I have tried a startup management software to space out the components and
even used a timed delay on some programs, but all to no avail...even if I
use a short tune, such as clock-chimes it still cuts half-way
through....anyone have any thoughts ?

Default Re: Startup sound cuts off

I have read about this before.. other people wanted to do the same as you
with the time of the sound.
Indeed XP has a limit on the time of the startup sound... I never read about
a solution though..

There may be one.. it seems to me like some hidden setting in the registry
