Default Please help, This might be a stupid question..........but I am at

end of my rope. I bought Sims 2, and then my pc just couldn't handle it, so
I packed my Sims 2 away until I could get a faster pc. I just bought one,
its an HP, it is much faster, but when I went to install the game NOTHING
happened. I looked on the box requirements and I need a DVD drive. I don't
think I have one. How can I tell? I know it has a CD writer, anyway I
strongly suspect that I need a DVD drive. There is a slot on my machine that
is an expansion bay. So what exactly do I need to buy and just how
difficult is it to install myself? I live in a very rural area and would
have to do this step by step. Is anyone out there brave enough to give
someone with a working knowledge of PC's a step by step on how to install the
DVD player in my expansion bay, without me ruining my brand new computer?
Thank you for your time

Mary,

New computers sold today usually come with both DVD players and CD burners.
What did you buy?

Open Device Manager and look at what is installed.

Before you add a DVD player to your 'new' system you better read the
warranty - you don't want to void it by installing hardware.

Hi Mary,

Jerry's right. You should call 1-800-HP INVENT if you need to order
a DVD player (or DVD writer) for your system, and have their support
personell walk you through the installaion instructions that ship with the
drive step by step over the phone with you. :-)
