Default XP Professional license - 2 CPU?

I noticed the sticker on the XP Professional cd packaging says "Windows XP
Professional - 2 CPUs". Does that mean it can be installed on two PCs? Or
does it mean it can support 2 CPUs on one PC?

Thanks in advance!

The latter. One XP license, one computer.

The CPU only a component of the computer, it is not the computer and a
computer can have multiple CPU's.

means it supports multi CPU systems
multi CPU as in 2 physical processors who in turn can be multi core
and/or multi threaded

so you could come to a total of 8 logical CPU's, isn't that something
;-)

1 Computer as in one motherboard with 2 CPUs on it. The irony of it, the
amount you pay for a mother board with 2 CPU, you can probably buy two
computers. Though there is a purpose for a mother board with 2 CPUs.
Particularly if you want to watch TV via your tuner, watch a video, listen
to some mp3 music, play Doom 3, flick through some pictures, work a bit on
you Excel spread sheet, send those emails out from Outlook, commit a huge
batch of data to your SQL server data base, while allowing everyone in the
room surf the web via your box, all happening at the same time, you may want
to consider a dual chip mother board.

Though some game fanatics get them anyway, usually purchased as servers.

To answer your question, you can install it on two computers as well as a
mother board with 2 chips. Life only get better from there on.
