I have recently installed several new programs (including InCD, Harmony
Logitech software for universal remotes etc) and since then the system has taken 2-3 minutes longer to startup or to switch user. I think these programs are set to automatically open on startup even though I don't need them to. Is this correct? And, if so, how do I change the settings that they do not open? Many thanks in advance - Roy |

Many programs add a Service or two - which run in the background - and also add little programs that start via a "Run" key in the Windows registry. This can slow your computer's start time [and hog memory] more or less depending on your computer. Often these programs have an option you can select so that they do not start at startup. NEVERTHELESS, scan for virus and malware etc.with up-to-date scanner software because malware also can be a cause of your slowdown, which if it is as much as you report, seems a little long. |
