They assembled that site after getting about the millionth call to their
radio show, from people who needed exactly the type of help you need right now. Interesting how everyone is able to criticize the one that gives a
suggestion and yet are unable to offer anything of value to the OP. But I do largely agree with Beta software. I rarely if ever suggest Beta anything as a solution. Beta anything should not be installed unless you are fully prepared to lose all data and perform a Clean Installation to resolve unexpected issues. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Doug Kanter" <ancientangler@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:tmdvf.1220$qg.421@news02.roc.ny... > The guy's already up to his neck in aggravation, and you think beta > software would be something he'll have the patience for? |

Take a look at www.pcmag.com, and see what their review said. Also, you might consider the ZoneAlarm suite (www.zonelabs.com). I use ZoneAlarm Pro (the firewall/spyware thing), and I've been happy with it. No idea how the antivirus aspect works in the larger suite. |

Richard;
At the time, there is nothing that meets your needs. There are products that claim to have it all but it is still best to use two or more spyware detectors and even occasionally get an online virus scan as a second opinion. Computer technology may never get to the state you want. Until there is, you will not be able to "install it and forget it," -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "RJK" <notatospam@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:uwgCM7hEGHA.472@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > OH...FOR GOODNESS DAMNED SAKE !!! > > ...surely there is a SINGLE ...all singing / all dancing - "install it > and > forget it," ...REALLY, REALLY GOOD > ...firewall / anti spy/scum/mal/crap-ware application out there that can > do > everything for me automatically, > > ....without having to read through HUMUNGOUS volumes of stuff like :- > http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware > > ...don't get me wrong - I'm immesely grateful for the untiring efforts of > a > large number of decent people out there like > David H Lipman, ...and the above hyperlinked site etc. > > ...but I'd like to use my PC for other things , now and again ! :-) > ....without having to spend inordinately huge amounts of time fiddling and > tweaking and spyware scanning etc. > > regards, Richard |
