Default Video used when logged off?

If a Windows service runs an application that is normally very graphics
intensive, but it runs with no one logged onto the machine, does the
graphics card's performance come into play? For example, I'm working
with software that needs a decent video card or it will crash. I want
to run this app via a Windows service with no one logged on. The video
card is not good enough for this software. Does it matter?

Thanks.
