I have a user that insists he cannot click "search" since being switched to
Windows XP. I cannot find any information on the net or this site. I suspect it may be a corrupt user profile but he says another user gets the same problem. No error message that I'm aware of, just the window pops up and then closes. Any thoughts? |

Take a look at Kelly's http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
Select S and scroll to Search don't work. Not much information to go on, but nonetheless -
Try removing 3rd party browser extensions (in IE, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Browsing, “uncheck” Enable Third Party Browser Extensions, then run a system file scan, (SFC) and re-registered these dll files. Click Start, Run, then type in: (pressing Enter after each one) regsvr32 /i browseui.dll regsvr32 /i shell32 regsvr32 oleaut32.dll regsvr32 jscript.dll regsvr32 vbscript.dll regsvr32 msxml.dll You may also need to: Click Start, Run, then type in: regsvr32 /i C:\windows\srchasst\srchui.dll Press Enter If the above fails to fix the problem, then consider the following links for more information:- Troubleshooting Search Issues in Windows XP http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_s.htm#search Windows XP Search Problems http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_search_probs.htm -- =========================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 =========================== "JL" <JL@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:49E17B07-EF1A-4BE2-A9B0-ED3638C1AE51@microsoft.com... >I have a user that insists he cannot click "search" since being switched to > Windows XP.
