WAS TOLD BY THE GUYS AT EMBEDDED TO RE-POST HERE

Every few days , I get a popup telling me I have files which are waiting
being written to CD. It shows my DVD/CD writing hardware and some files
which I have tried numerous times to write to it. This external drive is
connected and works (when I put a CD in it, I am asked whether I want to
open it and with what and can then read files on it)

When I click YES, it starts to write what looks like an ISO file and takes 7
minutes doing so. It then stops with an error message "There was an error in
the writing process. The disc you have attempted to write may no longer be
usable" Although I can't see if it is referring to writing the ISO file or
writing the disc, this error message is obviously erroneous and on occasion
I have put that same disc in another writer and it has written without a
hitch. I don't think it ever tries to write to the disc and have never SEEN
the light on the writer go on.

Does anyone know how to get around this error message please? Is it
something to do with the internal program being made by Roxio? Does anyone
know where the ISO file can be located so I can see if I can burn the disc
with iTunes directly from the ISO? (XP Searching reveals no ISO files at
all: Is it of some other extension??)

After the app seems to have written an ISO file, I then get the most curious
error message headed in the blue bar at the top CD Drive (H. This is my
cd burning drive. The body of the error message then tells me that I:\
refers to a location that is unavailable blah blah blah!

I am then asked whether I want to try to use another program to burn and
tried selecting Windows Media Player. It then starts and I then point its
burning app to the folder where the photos are and it can't find any (would
iTunes or Real Player do any better???)

The files don't exceed the space on a CD and there is sufficient space on
the HDD for the ISO to be written. Is this just a dud application?

Interestingly, the problem wasn't there but a potential solution was in that
it told me that the disc burning process was either stopper or not started

But of course when I started it, it still wouldn't burn the CD, still giving
me the same error message
