We purchased our Gateway computer from Gateway and it is the OEM version
(everything pre-installed). I recently got a Trojan virus on the computer and can not get it off. I am completely unable to get into the registry and have tried everything with Norton. AdAware, and eWido softwares. They can't delete the darn thing at all. I am stuck having to do a reinstallation but have no disks or anything. This virus is quickly making itself bigger. Is there ANY way I can reinstall my computer without having to purchase a whole new Windows XP edition? I have no money to pay for that so I am stuck. Please help. I would realllllllly appreciate it! |

Windows installation CD 2. Recovery CD 3. Hidden partition on the hard drive with an image of the system. If you don't have 1 or 2, then there should be 3. Contact Gateway tech support for info on how to do a recovery or check the documentation that came with the system. Have you done all checks in safe mode. Update all the anti-malware programs then boot into safe mode and run them. THE PARASITE FIGHT Finding, Removing & Protecting Yourself From Scumware http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm Richard Harper’s Guide to Cleaning Pests http://rgharper.mvps.org/cleanit.htm Also make sure you have a firewall that is active in safe mode, then boot into safe mode with networking.
