I often get emails from website owners and/or sales people who sell such
apps. asking for a link on my webpage.

I'm open minded, and will check out their page. But lo and behold, when
I see a statement like "fixes windows automatically with just one click"
it just turns me off. ie no such animal

"Norton" was fine, in its day. Once a useful utility suite, back in
the days of MS-DOS, when Peter Norton was more than a picture on the
box, Norton Utilities have been becoming increasingly useless and
redundant over the years. There's little offered by NU that WinXP
cannot already do natively. And some of Systemworks's features, like
CrashGuard and CleanSweep (if they're still included) cause far more
problems then they prevent. The Symantec imitation almost is worthless.
I don't know about 10,000 other programs that are better, because the
OS' built-n tools are more than adequate either for the average user or
the experienced professional, so I haven't wasted a lot of time trying them.

You're actually the first person (outside of the marketing departments
of companies selling such crap) I've seen who seriously claims such
products do any good. (But then, you've proclaimed such complete
contempt for integrity in so many other posts, that I'm not entirely
sure that you're truly serious, now.)

I am. I have SystemSuite on all my computers and it has served me well.
That said, SystemSuite has an automatic registry fixer which I don't
use. When I run the manual one, a list of registry entries is displayed,
colored coded as green, yellow and red. I look them over before I get
rid of them and rarely mess with the yellow and red results unless I am
really sure (like a reference to a program I have uninstalled). I find
it really handy in totally uninstalling Norton, for example. It also
comes with TrendMicro and Sygate. Originally, it was made by Ontrack.
You've probably heard of them.

Perhaps I'll look into it, then, although I'm naturally skeptical such
products.
