I cannot open Command Prompt [C:\] whether I type in "Cmd" in Run, or click
"Command Prompt" in Accessories, or try to open in Safe Mode with Command Prompt. All that happens is that the computer restarts automatically. I have checked "Event Viewer" and something has happened in the Control Center, but EV cannot provide details. Win XP Home Service Pack 2 with latest updates. Most grateful any suggestions. Derek |

Hi,
How about taskmgr.exe? If that fails too, then I would suspect a virus is involved. Most will resist removal in normal mode where they are active.
