Video Problem

Default Video Problem


I have recently installed Windows XP on a friends PC which was
previously running windows ME and now it can't find the video driver to
the card why has this happened it is a giga-byte motherboard but i cant
find enough identification to id the Motherboard is there a possible
generic 16-32 bit video driver somewhere cause at the moment it is
running 4bit video which is nearly impossible to use

I would have though that you sort of half answered your own question, in the
same question !

Identify your hardware properly, then collect the necessary drivers, if
you're not happy with XP's offerings !

....and of course collect graphics drivers for the specific graphics chipset
in your "Friends" PC :-)

You have to supply the video driver - one that's compatible with XP.
Before doing an upgrade to XP one should always make sure XP compatible
drivers are at hand for all hardware.

Get Belarc Advisor to see what info it can give you on the hardware.

After the hardware detection by Belarc Advisor(as advised by other
experts),visit the manufacturer's website to download and install the
latest video driver.It will fix your problem.
