I just got my new computer and I'm not too familiar with windows xp. I took
several cd's that had pictures on them and put them onto the harddrive under a folder in my documents. I've noticed that all of the pictures that I put in this folder are now showing up in my control panel as pictures that I can use for the desktop backround screen. I can't right click and delete them and I can't seem to find any way to get rid of them. Does anyone know of a way to restrict these photos from being available to other applications? Thanks! |

Since you put the pictures in the folder, the system is designed to
allow YOU to easily use them for YOUR desktop. If you don't want to use them, fine you dont have to. The part about rectricting the photos from being available to other applications is immaterial. The USER is who has access. If you don't want the photos on the hard drive delete them. windowsxpnovice wrote: > I just got my new computer and I'm not too familiar with windows xp. Make a new folder for your pictures and move the pictures into it. From MVP Ramesh - Windows XP fetches image files from the following paths: BMP Files from C:\WINDOWS BMP, JPG, GIF, JPE, DIB, PNG, HTM files from the following locations: C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\My Documents\My Pictures [& ALL THE SUB-FOLDERS] C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes [*** & ALL THE SUB-FOLDERS ***] So make a new folder in My Documents cleverly called something like "pictures" and the files in there won't show up in the Display applet.
