Sorry if the answer to this is posted somewhere else, but I'm computer
illiterate and can't find it. I have a purchased software package that requires a floppy disk to run. (Eventhough it is installed via CDs). My HP Pavillion a44n did not come with a floppy drive. Is there a way that I can configure WinXP so that I can plug in my USB thumb drive and have it known to the system as letter "A:" ? It doesn't have to be bootable, but it has to be A: Thanks! Ekim |

Nevermind. I found the answer.
The drive letter can be changed from the control panel. It figures... I spend a few hours unsuccessfully looking for the answer online. As soon as I post a request for help - I find it in the very next place I check. |

Perhaps the information on this page will allow you to use the A: drive if
there is no floppy drive installed. http://www.simpletech.com/support/support_faq-usb.php Eric, PC Buyer Beware! http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/ "Ekim" wrote: > Sorry if the answer to this is posted somewhere else, but I'm computer > illiterate and can't find it. > > I have a purchased software package that requires a floppy disk to run. > (Eventhough it is installed via CDs). If the HP altered motherboard allows it, new floppy drives are very cheap and very easy to install. -- Alias Use the Reply to Sender feature of your news reader program to email me.
