Default Locking Desktop Icons

Hello,
I have my desktop set to align icons to grid so I can group similar
applications together, however I find that after running a certain game, one
that changes the screen resolution, all the icons are jumbled together, any
way I can stop this, please,
ThankYou,
Baz.
