Hi R. Lee,

Sorry to use you as a sort of example but I want to state something here...
It seems that there are so many people having problems with the whole XP
thing. Having Windows XP doesn't mean you have Office XP nor does it mean u
have any other version of office. Also, having Office XP does not mean you
have Windows XP. I have had customers who've purchased office XP for their
98 machines and then bring it in to me and say I thought I had XP and I have
to explain it to them that they have office not windows. So yes R. Lee it is
perfectly fine to use Office XP with Publisher on your Windows XP system. If
you look at the system requirements on that it will say Windows XP is fine.
You may need to download some office updates as well though. I was just
wondering do any of you other Techs get people like I do that are so confused
over things saying XP?

Yes, it's a common source of confusion. Besides those who mix up Office XP
and Windows XP, other people who know the difference between them assume
that, because Windows XP is the later version of Windows, Office XP is also
the latest version of Microsoft Office (it's not--Office 2003 is), Still
others assume that the only version of Office that can run on Windows XP is
Office XP.

In reality, of course, the "XP" part of either name is there just for
marketing purposes, and has no real meaning. All versions of Microsoft
Office, at least as far back as Office 95, will run under Windows XP.

The XP OS does not include any form of office. It's a separate program
so it's not an upgrade. Yes you can install it.

Sure, and it's just not the "XP" that causes such confusion.
Sometimes, I think that Microsoft must have a vice president in charge
of confusing names. I mean, folks frequently confuse Windows Explorer
for Internet Explorer, or vice versa, when trying to describe problems.
And don't even get me started on the whole Windows Messenger - MSN
Messenger - Messenger Service fiasco. And, to this day, I simply fathom
why they thought it would be a good idea to make people click a "Start"
button when they want to shutdown the PC. Oh, and I especially love all
those dialog boxes that read "Click <Finish> to begin the installation..."
