Default File Sharing ?

I am running with W XP Home Edition. I have a desktop which is
connected to a router which in turn is connected to a cable modem. I
also have a laptop. The laptop has a wireless connection to the router
and then out to the internet. Both the desktop and the laptop are setup
with 3 users, herself, himself and visitor. All of this is working fine
and we have no problems getting out to the WWW.

I now want to configure some files on the desktop so they can be shared
with the laptop. I have selected the folder and dragged it to Shared
Documents. This allows the folder to be accessed by the other Users on
the desktop but not from the laptop. I then moved the folder from
Shared Documents back to My Documents.

I then selected the folder via Windows ExplorerThen I right clicked on
the folder and selected Sharing & Security. On the Sharing Tab I
selected Share This Folder On The Network, then Apply and OK. After
doing that I do not see the folder in the shared documents folder and I
do not see it on the laptop.

This is all new to me as I have just graduated from W 98 and am feeling
my way.

Thanks for any and all help And Happy New Year.

You need to configure the firewall for file sharing.
