When i use to start up my computer i didn’t have to log on or
anything, it just took me straight to desktop which is ok since everyone in my household uses the same account. We don’t have a password either, but suddenly, whenever i turn my computer on half the time it says it’s loading windows xp but it won’t get past that. i have to keep restarting my computer hoping that this time it’ll actually get past that. but when it does, a logon screen is in the background with the username administrator and there’s a password in it but the window infront of it says that windows couldn’t sign me in because the username or password is incorrect. I click ok, and it takes me to the other logon screen where I can choose an account (but we only have just that one). Is there something i can do about this? -- Posted using the http://www.windowsforumz.com interface, at author's request Articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards Topic URL: http://www.windowsforumz.com/Log-Pro...ict447455.html Visit Topic URL to contact author (reg. req'd). Go to Start | Run and type in: control userpasswords2 | Ok. 2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click OK. 3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start your computer. You can accomplish the same thing by: Download and install tweakui for xp and use its auto logon feature. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp Lastly you can add the Dialog box that comes up when running control userpasswords 2 to the Control Panel with the following tweak: Add Control User Passwords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm -- Rock MS MVP Windows - Shell/User |
