Default What is "recovery mode"?

I am hoping (wishing) that someone here can offer some
insight into a problem I am encountering when I try to
update the firmware for a Creative MP3 player.

I sent email to Creative tech support a couple days ago.
They are usually very responsive. I suspect they might
be out for the holiday. I am hoping someone here can
shed some light on the problem before next week.

When I try the firmware download, I get a pop-up window
that says, "Put device in recovery mode before running
firmware update". If I simply close the window, the
download goes no further.

Do you know how to put the device in "recovery mode"?

I do not know if this a Creative or WinXP message. I cannot
find any explanation either in Creative product instructions or
in MSWin support documentation.

Thanks for any help.

Happy New Year!

Default RE: What is "recovery mode"?

Firmware updates are specifically for hardware devices,MP3 player would
be software. If they relate to updating youre audio chip, this would be a
instal-
lation for a pc developer, youre installation up date would be for the
BIOS,and
that is from the board mfg only...Youre only update would be for software.
