Hi, I have wireless broadband in my house but the signal is very poor in one
of the rooms and rather annoyingly keeps dropping. Is there anything that i can buy to pick up and boost the strength of the signal? Many thanks in advanced. |

Sometimes moving the router and/or relevant computer small distances within
their rooms room can make a big difference. Otherwise there are two basic possibilities. Gain boosting antennas and wireless repeaters which may or may not prove sufficient. -- "Udd." <Udd.@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7829A985-78FA-4887-8F8E-C5385099621A@microsoft.com... > Hi, I have wireless broadband in my house but the signal is very poor in > one > of the rooms and rather annoyingly keeps dropping. Something to be aware of -- the typical router radiation
pattern is sort of a doughnut -- directly over/under the router is often a dead spot. You didn't say where the router was relative to you (other than "other room"). Also metal will block the signal (often overlooked are things like large bathroom mirrors with the metalized back reflector). mikey "GTS" <x> wrote in message news:%237RrLiiDGHA.3528@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > Sometimes moving the router and/or relevant computer small distances within > their rooms room can make a big difference. Next time you move, have it wired and wall outlets for whole house LAN.
Exposed wiring is ugly and problematic for routing the wiring through a house already built. An alternate solution is using your telephone wiring for the LAN.
