showing their images. The name is still there and the file size to. But when
I click on a jpeg icon I get No Previw aval=ilable. How can I get these
pictures back? These are very important files to me. Im runing WinXP.

You didn't happen to run regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll or disable "windows
fax and picture viewer" over the latest exploit did you?

If so your going to need install a graphic viewer (www.Irfranview.com)
and go without thumbnails in explorer.

Did you implement the suggested fix for the <shmgvw.dll> exploit by
unregistering that .dll?? If so, the Windows Image and Fax viewer will not
function, along with the thumbnail viewer. If this is the case, be aware
that opening a pic file in Paint, Irfanview or just about any other viewer,
will present a vector for comprimise.

To mitigate this threat, execute...

REGSVR32 /u SHIMGVW.DLL

When Microsoft releases a patch the DLL can be re-registered.

REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL

Trax,
Irfanview, Paint, and most all of the other pic viewers are still
vulnerable to the comprimise. The following site offers another method, I
haven't tried it, can't vouch for it, take no responsibility for it.

Looks like your right, Irfanview doesn't have native WMF support.

I use ACDsee have for years and it has native WMF support
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=acdsee
I still use 3.1 as it's the best I feel - yet does have certain quirks
under XP.
