Default Reformatting question

I recently did a reformat of my computer. I am using Win XP Pro and had
downloaded a trial version of ACT contact manager. Act wrote itself into
a whole lot of things including the menu bar of MS Word.

Anyway, I decided I didn't want ACT, but after uninstalling it, the ACT
heading was still showing in the menu bar! Sometime later I decided to
do a complete reformat. I booted off my CD Rom drive using my Win XP Pro
disc. When asked, I did a "quick" format as I didn't want to do a scan disc.

After loading MS Word 2003 back onto the computer the ACT selection is
still in the toolbar!!! How is this possible? Obviously I didn't
completely erase everything with my format.

Can someone lead me to instructions I can download that explains how to
completely erase a HD and reformat properly?

TIA

Do it over, you did a reinstall and obviously did not do a format quick or
otherwise, unless you formatted another drive or partition. Missing a drive?
Follow the steps in the link below for doing a Clean Install.
