Default Windows Authentifacation

I am about to upgrade my PC

New Motherboard, processor, memory and graphics card. What information do i
need to reinstall my XP Pro - When i bought it i entered a number from the
packaging and then i was given a authentifacation code.

Do i need to recover my authentifacation code and if so i do i find it now?

Happy New Year to everone who reads this especially if can help me out

There are many ways to move your system drive to a new computer even if
built from scratch. I would say to ghost the drive first and use that as the
new system drive and authorized when asked to by Windows. This worked for me
which resulted in two identical systems running and activated at once. I of
coarse de-activated and am no longer using the older one but gave me as much
time as I needed to assure I had a working system.

You need the number from the packaging, aka the "Product Key". If you threw
it away (it was orange and marked "do not lose this..."), then retrieve it
from the existing installation before you upgrade.

This one gives you the key for any version:

This utility works for retail versions:

Also, this system utility will get it for you:
