Default Primary master not detected

I want to up grade my 20gb hard disk to 80gb but my computer can not detect
my new 80GB hard drive. Cmos setup of the primary master TYPE is set up to
AUTO and MODE is setup also to AUTO. Please help thank.

1. Make sure you are using a new 80-wire ribbon cable to the 80GB drive
and not just using the old cable that was attached to the 20GB drive.
If swapping out the cable fixes the issue, you're done.

2. Check the jumpers on the new drive. Is it set to master?

More details will help you get more focused answers.

How old is your computer?

Is the computer motherboard capable of supporting hard drives of this
size? Many motherboards from 5 or 6 years ago (when 20 gb drives
were common) are not capable of recognizing drives larger than 32 gb.

Check the documentation that came with your computer or post a reply
back here with the computer and motherboard information.
