Default Spyware & Virus Recovery - cannot repair desktop

This is a post that was originally posted on 12/26 and I still cannot repair
my desktop. My husband accidentally downloaded a virus & spyware onto the
computer. I erased the virus and the spyware with Microsoft anti spyware
software and there is no more virus or spyware, but I cannot change the
picture on my desktop. When I right click on the desktop and click properties
and go to desktop, it will not let me choose a background. I can have a
screen saver, but no background. Can someone please help me fix this? I am
totally frustrated....THANKS

Download SmitFraud.exe from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/SmitFraud.exe

Execute; SmitFraud.exe { Note: You must accept the default of C:\McAfee }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to enable WGET.EXE to download the needed McAfee related files.

Execute; c:\mcafee\clean.bat
{ or Double-click on 'Clean Link' in c:\mcafee }

A final report in HTML format called C:\mcafee\ScanReport.HTML will be generated. At the
end of the scan, it will be displayed in your browser (Opera, FireFox or Internet Explorer).
It is suggested that you move the report out of c:\mcafee before performing another scan.

Please Copy and Paste the contents of the HTML Log file; C:\mcafee\ScanReport.HTML in your
reply.

* * * Please report back your results * * *

Hi Sarah
Go back to Display properties/desktop/customize desktop and click on the
web tab then remove the check mark on the web page.

It's FIXED!

I think it was that McAfee scan - I let it run through all the way and
restarted the computer this morning and it was fixed.

THANKS SO MUCH!
