Default Webcam causes loud noise feedback in XP

Since I bought the Logitech QuickCam Orbit MP webcam (microphone included),
it has caused erratic noise disturbance throughout various audio operations
in Windows XP SP2. Occasionally, when audio is playing, I will hear a loud,
deafening scratch from the speakers. I am unable to tell what triggers the
problem.

I've tried using 1) different speakers, 2) muting some devices in the Mixer
and 3) reinstalling the Webcam and placing it further away from the
speakers, but no improvement. I'd like to restore the volume to its default
levels, and hopefully eliminate the random feedback.

Can anybody assist me in possibly solving this problem? Thanks!

Default RE: Webcam causes loud noise feedback in XP

Hello , I learned using the webcam mic {Logitech} is much more sencitive and
seems as if the mic is a cheapy even though it was purchased at about $99.00
.. I now use a Logitech desk mic {$45.00} , and this is the answer for me . I
needed to open "Logitech ImageStudio" check the box "Include Audio" / click
on the microphone symbol to open the wizard / next / click on the drop down
arrow and selected "AK5370" which would disable the "logitech Microphone"
{cam mic} . After selecting the mic you want , continus through the entire
wizard . Then manualy test the desk mic with your voice via "Record a Video"
to assure successful switch . Everytime I voice in chat / Instant messaging
or record with Video and audio while still using the cam , the replay sounds
perfect . Write down the desk mic setting that you are happy with in case you
forget this new mic setting . Once in a great while the cams' mic will enable
itself when I unplug the desk mic . I always like to perform a quick audio
test to assure a clear performance when "Recording a Video" or chatting .
This desk mic has an on/off button on its base , and the button is lit when
on .
