Hello,
Despite updating all drivers and software in the past weeks I can not get a stable system with SP2 running, whereas with SP1 it's rock solid. Therefore I am trying to remove SP2. The obvious choice "Uninstall SP2" in Add/Remove Programs goes through all the checks, then brings up "Copying/Deleting files" for a minute and errors out with "The system cannot find the file specified". I then used option #2, which is returning to the System Restore point created prior to SP2 installation. This worked nicely, the System Information indicates that SP1 is running and everything is stable again. However, "Uninstall SP2" is still listed in "Add/Remove Programs". Clicking on it still yields the above error message. I don't want to just delete the SP2 Uninst folder since this might miss data in other spots. Is there a way to find out which file exactly the uninstall wizard had issues with or ways to instruct it to skip this file? Regards, Marco Grubert |

don't, really DON'T uninstall SP2. You'll get errors/applications which won't
start anymore etc. I tried it once.. Well, I think when you try to uninstall it, Windows wants to completely uninstall SP2, including the files you mention, so you can't skip those files. I think many of the files SP2 includes overwrite the "old/standard" Windows XP system files "grubertm@gmail.com" wrote: > Hello, > > Despite updating all drivers and software in the past weeks I can not > get a stable system with SP2 running, whereas with SP1 it's rock solid. > Therefore I am trying to remove SP2.
