It could be that the third party firewall automatically disables the Windows Firewall at startup. -- Evolution54 |

Did you perhaps install and new anti-virus program? Don |

Thanks Don, Yes, since you mention it I did not check whether the firewall
was on when I installed my anti virus program until I received a virus which the program found and said that it had deleted, but it continually kept popping up that it found a virus and blocked it, this happend every few seconds as if the registry was writing email and sending them and the only way I could stop it is by setting the firewall to on every time I booted. I think I still have it in my registry so I am thinking of formatting my hard drive which I dont really want to do. -- royboy "Don MI <>" wrote: > > "royboy" <royboy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:C0D3F58F-8022-49D4-BB37-0413F826A62A@microsoft.com... > > Since I receved a virus email i cannot set my firewall to on. May I ask which anti-virus you're running?
I only ask because I recently replaced Norton anti-virus with Kaspersky. I learned very quickly that I need to disable anti-virus before any installation that requires writing to the registery, Dusty "royboy" <royboy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F85615D0-D06B-4FB2-9002-F50416AAE158@microsoft.com... > Thanks Don, Yes, since you mention it I did not check whether the firewall > was on when I installed my anti virus program until I received a virus which |
