Thread replies won’t open

On a WinXPSP2 box running IE6, I recently ran a search on the string “CD tray
won’t open�. I got a good set of search results, but I could only open the
first post in each thread; i.e. the question but not the replies. This was
very frustrating and I got really angry with Microsoft.

Just in case anyone else has experienced a similar problem, I eventually
worked out that the problem was caused by the apostrophe in the search
string. There were two workarounds:

1 - (unsatisfactory) modify the search string
2 - (with the original search string) jump to the forum hosting each thread
in turn, and read the replies from there.

Everyone here uses google groups for searching.

That's interesting. I used both, but I persisted with the Microsoft
Communities search because it brought up more resuts, better results, and
more up to date results.
