I use Cox high speed internet. They offer free spyware and anti virus. Are
they as good as using bought anti virus tools such as Nortons? Not looking to save money, just not looking to waste. -- Thank you, Phil |

It is in the best interest of the ISP's to protect the computers connected
to their service so many of them offer quality antivirus and anti spyware programs to their subscribers. Go to the web site of the company that makes what your ISP is offering you. Read up on it and see if you think it fills your needs. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! Usually these services provided by the ISP are only aplicable to the email
service they provide you. ie the AV will not be available to your system, only your email via cox. Any that I have installed are on the computer to stay. It is, of course,
used by the email account also. You are thinking of ISP resident services where they supposedly check the email "before" it is sent to you. When they offer free software for their subscribers it is just that - free software, either by a download of through a CD you receive in the mail. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! Well yes I was refering to ISP services, specific to the email.

They would be using some commercial version, they don't "write their
own". If you don't like the vendor they use, get one you do like. Phil wrote: > I use Cox high speed internet. They offer free spyware and anti virus. Are > they as good as using bought anti virus tools such as Nortons? Not looking to > save money, just not looking to waste. |
