Seamus Halford,
Sorry for the late reply. Try this the next time you want to install the printer: 1>Disconnect the printer if it is already connected.(Shutdown the computer if not already done before this) 2>Now power on the computer. Once on the desktop click on start then click on run. type in regedit and click on OK. 3>What you have now is the registry editor. Please follow instructions here as being advised. Any editing done other than this may make your system unstable and you may have to reinstall everything from scratch. So be careful!! 4>Here you have a tree structure with 5 main entries each with a '+' sign besides each. Now we need to get to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB. 5>After you have clicked on the '+' besides USB you will have some entries. We need to check if an entry by the name Vid_0000&Pid_0000 is present under this USB entry. 6>If it is right click on it and click on permissions. In the window that opens highlight "everyone" and below you will find entries like full control and read with checkboxes beside them. Make sure you have a check in the checkbox next to full control which is under allow. 7>Click on OK once done. 8>Now again right click on Vid_0000&Pid_0000 entry and click on delete. Click on yes in the confirmation box. 9>Now close the registry editor and restart the computer. 10>Once back on the desktop now put the installation cd for your printer in the cd drive and start the installation. Do not connect the printer till the time the installation is complete. Once complete shutdown the computer and connect the printer and then restart the computer. Tell me if this helps yogi "Seamus Halford." wrote: > The sequence of events are,(per epson installations instructions) > Insert and run Epson installation cd, > When prompted, connect usb and power on printer, > When printer is connected as instructed, the trouble begins- Windows new > hardware wizard runs at same time as cd installation. > At that point Windows message "there is a problem etc. and baloon appears - > "found new hardware- Epson photomate 100" > Then everything freezes, - cannot close wizard or baloon, both of which > remain on even after reboot??? > > "yogi" wrote: > > > Seamus Halford, > > Was your printer connected to your computer when you installed the > > software??
