Default Quick HDD Wipe

I have an old laptop with NT on it and want to install a new edition of XP
Home on it.

What is the best way to quickly/completely wipe the HDD before the new
installation?

TIA

Bob

When installing Windows XP, you will be prompted to select a hard disk
partition. In that series of dialogs, you may select the existing partition
and delete it. All your old data and system files will be wiped out and
overwritten with the new installation.

Just boot from the XP CD to install XP. It has the tools to delete the
partiton, then install.

Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order if necessary to
accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean installation (delete the
existing partition by pressing "D" when prompted, then create a new one).

You can find detailed instructions here:

An old laptop that came with NT may not be up to the task of running XP.
Check the manufacturers web site for XP upgrade info and any XP drivers for
the laptop if any are even available.
Also, you need realistically around 256 meg ram and at least 10 gig of hard
drive space.
