Dear Group here's a problem that I've spent hours on to no avail.
I bought Dear Son a USB/IRDA dongle to connect his new mobile phone through to his computer. I have a XP Pro PC and so does my son. I can install and use the IRDA Dongle fine on my PC but on my sons it always show a "This device cannot start [Code 10} The USB ports on his PC work fine on everything else. The IRDA was disabled in BIOS, I enabled it and it installed fine. Next time the PC was started I got CODE 10 again Exactly the same drivers are present on both PC's and I have installed the IRDA exactly the same on both PC's. Any thoughts guys? Best Wishes Martin |

It helps when reposting or restating a request to include the original
content. Some of us use a Newsreader that doesn't display "Viewed" messages, so any new postings do not reference the original. When you post things like "Any Thoughts at All", you're likely to get flippant responses like "All the Time". If it's been 24-48 Hours, then either nobody with experience on your issue read it or maybe it's subject line was misleading and responders skipped opening/reading it. It actually took me a couple of seconds to recognize the Infared nature of the posting. You might have better success at the XP Hardware forum, where more specific help is likely to be found. The folks that post here are volunteers, from around the world, so it can take time for the right person to see it. Though the response time is great here, you need to give it 24-48 hrs. -- Rock MS MVP Windows - Shell/User |
