I installed new video drivers and on reboot the computer wont go back into
windows, it just shows the black screen and the "windows did not start successfully, a recent hardware or software change" and I cant move the curser to safe mode or anything, it just does the countdown and goes back to the same menu again. I tried to put the xp cd in and maybe boot from and no go. How can I get into xp or boot up, I have my laptop. Should I make a boot disc or something like that? HELP Marty |

Press F8 on startup and choose the Safe Mode with VGA option.
Once the PC starts up in safe mode, use the Driver Rollback in Device Manager and you should be back at your older graphics drivers. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "Marty" <Marty@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BD1EFD13-8B72-4521-A3BC-1C800482770A@microsoft.com... >I installed new video drivers and on reboot the computer wont go back into > windows, it just shows the black screen and the "windows did not start > successfully, a recent hardware or software change" and I cant move the > curser to safe mode or anything, it just does the countdown and goes back > to > the same menu again. I did f8 and it has the screen but the curser wont move the prompt, its stuck
on normal windows startup. I tried the arrows and all other buttons but no luck. It just keeps rebooting to the same screen. I was having problems with ms games ie: cfs2 and 3 and fs 2004 crashing due
to the drivers (per MS) and was told to install new drivers. It worked for my fs2004 but not for cfs2 and 3. Anyway, I got a new vid card and have the same problem with the system crashing when I try to use cfs2 or 3. I ended up reinstalling xp and all of the updates and same problem with the sims.
