I have a Sony VAIO VGC-RB44G computer, with Windows XP MCE 2005, and Service
Pack 2 already pre-installed. I have having some problems with Internet Explorer, it is loading slow and when popups come up it freezes for about a min. Can I use my Service Pack 2 CD and install Service Pack 2 again? P.S. Service Pack 2 is not listed under Add/Remove programs. Thanks In Advance |

Ryan;
SP-2 may not show in Add/Remove Programs. Right click My Computer and click Properties. Does it say "Service Pack 2" on the 4th line under "System"? If not, SP-2 is not installed. Follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist: http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm Follow the checklist carefully to help be sure all pre-existing problems are resolved. If SP-2 is installed, Follow this to help clean the computer: http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/slowcom.htm -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Ryan" <Ryan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FDA3D9A7-37AC-4ECD-9834-0DB6873FA2DE@microsoft.com... >I have a Sony VAIO VGC-RB44G computer, with Windows XP MCE 2005, and >Service > Pack 2 already pre-installed. Ryan;
You should not reinstall SP-2 since it came preinstalled on your computer. You may be able to perform a Repair Installation of Windows XP as long as the manufacturer provided the CD. Also, since SP-2 is preinstalled, there will not be an uninstall option in Add/Remove Programs. Follow the second link on my last post to check for other problems before any type of reinstallation is attempted. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Ryan" <Ryan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:78C34A2F-2137-451A-A9A3-272ADDB48E03@microsoft.com... > but the question is, can i reinstall it? |

That's because your OS is XP2, ie SP2 was not an upgrade, but rather part of the OS. -- http://www.bootdisk.com/ |
