RE: Defrag Not working _ Anyone Help PLEEEASE

I have a new laptop running Windows XP Home SP2. I have the same problem
with defrag. It analyzes fine then says "Defragging: 1% compacting files"
and it hangs there with the HD light continually on. I ran chkdsk. Nothing
different. Still won't defrag. I have 64% free space on my hard drive. Can
anyone help?

How long did you let it run for? Do a chkdsk first. After that boot
into safe mode and try the defrag.

And you tried defragging in safe mode too, huh? Doesn't look like it.
